At La Alejandra farm you will have your experience with chocolate, a place to connect with nature, share with your loved ones and to take a cocoa tour where you explore the crop, from the plants in the process of growth, development and production, learn about the processing system (fermentation and drying), and carry out the artisanal production of chocolate (roasting, grinding, molding of cocoa) you can also taste a delicious chocolate.

Cocoa Tour

ITINERARY

The tour begins in the municipality of Montenegro, where we will pick you up in a jeep and head to the La Alejandra Cocoa Farm. Our guide will be waiting for us and will begin the tour by telling us about the history and cultural, economic, and social importance of cacao. We will then take a tour of the cacao plantation where you will learn about the different cacao varieties, including planting, management, pest and disease control, and pollination. You will also learn how ripe fruits are selected for harvesting and/or participate in the manual harvest of the cacao (depending on the season). We will then tour the bamboo forest to go to the fermentation and drying area and actively participate in the cleaning, roasting, hulling, grinding, and molding of the cacao for chocolate production. Finally, we will enjoy a delicious snack, including a cup of hot chocolate made with the farm's cacao, before departing back to the starting point.

TOURISM FOR ALL​​

This tour is accessible to people with physical disabilities and/or reduced mobility. They cannot do the walk, but they can still experience the transformation.
